What is Real-Time Rating?

Real-Time Rating involves getting a rate directly from a carrier's rating system instead of ITC manufacturing the rates and rules for the carrier. When a rate is requested through TurboRater, the quote information is sent electronically to the real-time carrier who in turn returns their rate. Their rate is then displayed in the Comparison screen along with all other companies' rates.

What Could Prevent a Real-Time Rate From Being Returned?

Review error returned. When a Real-Time rate is not provided, an error is returned. To view the error, either hover your mouse over the company name in the Comparison screen or double click on the company in the Comparison screen.

Producer code, password, and user name may be required in the Company Profile. Most Real-Time companies will require a producer code, some require a password and possibly a username.  The Company Profile can be accessed under the "Edit" Menu and then click on "Companies". Highlight the company you wish to modify and click on the "Properties" button.

Address is entered incorrectly. Some carriers use a address validation process to verify the address. If the street, city, state, and zip are not entered correctly, it could cause a Real-Time rate not to be obtained.

Customer declines credit. Most Real-Time Companies require a credit score in order to return a Real-Time rate. If the customer declines to have their credit run, select "Decline Credit" and rates for those Real-Time companies requiring credit will not be offered.

Additional information required by carrier. Not all information required for Real-Time companies can be gathered on our normal policy, driver and car entry screens. Additional questions may be located on the company question screen. Please make sure to answer these questions as they are used in determining the rate. If you have rated, and need to go back to these questions, use the <Ctrl+Q> command to return to the question screen.

In addition to the company question screen, several carriers have additional requirements to obtain a Real-Time rate. Please see "Real-Time Rating Tips Specific by Carrier" below.

Real-Time rating requires communication via the internet, therefore, it may take a couple of seconds longer to get your rate. If you are not appointed with a company, do not install their rates. Trying to rate a real-time company when you do not have a valid producer code will slow down your rating process.

Real-Time Rating Tips Specific by Carrier

Affirmative IL (applies to all programs)
The city name entered in the Policy Tab (F3) or the Insurance Scoring screen (Ctrl-V) MUST match the exact spelling of the city name located under the Vehicle Tab (F5)

Affirmative Value IL
Vehicle Body Type company question must be selected
ACV must be entered

Agency Insurance Company
Must enter a producer code in company properties. The producer code is 5 numeric, followed by a \ then an alpha code. If you do not know your code, contact the company. Example 87654\itcrate Credit scoring is required

American Mercury VA
Driver 1 should always be the Named Insured
Vehicle's primary operator must be set
Policy effective date cannot be earlier than today or more than 30 days in advance
VIN number is required
Insured's address is required

Cornerstone
Must enter the Insured's First and Last Name, Address, Social Security Number, Drivers License Number for all drivers, and Miles to Work
Must have a valid Username and Password in Company Properties
 

Endeavor
Must enter the Insured's First and Last Name, Address, and all Driver's Names
Must have a valid Producer Code, Username and Password in Company Properties

Foremost
Must have a valid Producer Code in Company Properties. Format is 7 digits.
Must enter the Insured's First and Last Name

Gainsco
Must have a valid Producer Code in Company Properties.  Format is 5 digits.

GMAC
Must enter Driver Names
Garaging address if the mailing zip code and the rating zip is different.
Must enter all Driver Names
Must have a valid Producer Code, Username and Password in Company Properties

Grange
Must have a valid Producer Code in Company Properties. Code is numeric, 6 digits with a dash between the second and third.
Ex: 00-0000.
Must enter Insured's Name and Address
Must enter Driver Names
Must have prior insurance

Grange VA
Requires prior coverage to rate. There is no restriction as to how many months, just as long as it is equal to or greater than 1.

Grinnell
Requires prior coverage to rate. There is no restriction as to how many months, just as long as it is equal to or greater than 1.

Hartford
Must have a valid Producer Code, Username, and Password in Company Properties. Producer code is 8 numeric.
Must enter Insured's Name and Address
Must enter Driver Names
Must enter miles driven to work
Must order Credit Score
Complete SSN for Named Insured is required

Imperial
Must have a valid producer code in Company Properties
Must enter an Insured Name and Address
Must enter all Driver Names

Infinity
Must have a valid Producer Code
Must enter Insured's Name and Address
Must enter all Driver's Names

National Security AR and OK
Both the General Information and Additional Information tabs on the Drivers Tab (F4) must be accessed to get a rate.

Under the General Information tab:
Please complete the Transfer Discount, Employment, and Residence Type and Status fields as this information will influence tier selection, even if a discount is not applied.

Under the Additional Information tab:
A social security number MUST be entered. Their system will match the SSN of the insured or the spouse to an existing in-force policy in order to grant the multi-line discount.
The Zip Code field under the Employer Information is REQUIRED for every driver. Use residence zip code for unemployed, retired, and homemakers. For students, use the zip code of the school.

Progressive
Must have a valid 5-digit producer code in Company Properties
Must enter the Insured's Name and Address
Must order credit

Safeco
Must have a valid 6-digit number producer code in Company Properties. 
Must enter the Insured's Name and Address
Must enter all Driver Names
Must order Credit


Travelers
Must have a valid producer code in Company Properties. Traveler's producer codes start with a 0 (zero)
Must enter Insured's Name and Address
Must enter Driver Names
